The Most Unusual Surfing Locations in the World

We, who are in love with surfing, plan our vacations based on the principle: "Where would I want to surf?" We want great spots, breathtaking nature, and places with history.

So today, we’ve got a must-visit location list for you :)

Praia do Norte, Portugal

The Portuguese town of Nazaré, home to this famous beach, can easily be called the capital of European professional surfing. This is where big-wave surfers set records conquering these waves.

If you go there, you can combine business with pleasure: watch incredible athletes and surf other spots yourself. Plus, fall in love with Portugal’s stunning landscapes, architecture, wine, cuisine, and people :)

English Garden in Munich, Germany

At this surfing spot, you won’t find white sand or sun-drenched beaches.

The English Garden is split by the Eisbach River, which flows through it. The water is cold year-round, and the current is strong. Due to the unique terrain, the river forms waves up to 1 meter high.

This is a one-of-a-kind surf spot in the historic center of an old European city. That’s why surfers from all over the world come here to add this location to their "collection." If you’re planning a Euro trip, this place is a must-visit :)

Sakhalin Island, Russia

Surfing on Sakhalin is quite developed. The season runs from early summer to late September, but true extremists keep surfing even in winter when water temperatures drop close to freezing.

Snowfall is also part of the experience. Waves, a board under your feet, and a snowstorm—this combo isn’t for everyone, but it’s one of the few places in the world where you can try surfing in such unusual conditions.

Impressive, right? What would you add to your must-visit list? Maybe you know another unique surfing spot worth sharing? Let us know :)
